The work you never see.

Godern started in welding and still does most of his work in steel. Over the years he added the trades that kept coming up alongside it: carpentry, timber restoration, painting and general repairs.

That is why we can take on jobs that would normally need two contractors. A sliding door needs a steel track and a timber door. A console table needs a welded frame and a hardwood top. We build both halves, so they fit each other, and there is only one number to call if something is not right.

We work from Fourways and cover the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Most of the week is gates, burglar bars and security steel for homes, structural steel for builders, and furniture for people who would rather have something made than buy it off a shelf.

The part of a job nobody sees is the part we take most seriously. Welds ground smooth, so a piece looks made rather than assembled. Timber set down into the steel, so the join is clean. Every column checked and levelled before it is bolted down. None of it gets noticed, and all of it is the difference between work we are happy to photograph and work we would rather you did not look at closely.
