A gate gets used several times a day, every day, for years. It’s worth getting the boring parts right.
Every opening gets measured on site and the gate gets built to that. Square tube stiles, solid bar infill, spacing set tight enough that nobody reaches through to the latch, and hinges welded to the frame, so the frame carries the gate rather than the wall.
Mild steel for anything getting painted, stainless where you want a finish that needs no maintenance.

Common questions
Why not just buy a gate off the shelf?
You can, and for a standard opening it's cheaper. The problem is that openings are rarely standard. A bought gate gets packed out or trimmed to fit, which is where the gaps and the sag come from. Built to the measured opening, it fits, and the hinges carry the weight the way they were meant to.
How do you stop somebody reaching through to the latch?
Infill spacing. It's the detail people don't look at until it matters: a gate with a generous gap between bars is a gate somebody can put an arm through. We set the spacing deliberately tight, and on gates where the latch is reachable we'll panel or mesh the section around it.
What finish do gates come in?
Mild steel goes out in red-oxide primer so it's protected in transit and on site, ready for a topcoat in whatever colour suits the house. If you'd rather it arrived finished, say so and we'll price the topcoat in. Stainless needs no coating. The welds get dressed and polished, and that is the finish.
Can you repair a gate instead of replacing it?
Usually, yes, and it's normally the cheaper answer. Sagging gates, cracked welds, hinges pulling out of a wall, a latch that no longer lines up, all repairable in place. Send a photo and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth fixing or whether you'd be throwing money at it.
Do you install, or just fabricate?
Both. We hang what we build. Hinges get welded to the frame rather than straight to the wall, so the load goes where it should and the gate can be lifted off later if it ever needs work.
